This week we are learning how to say our different family members. We are also learning to read and write the different characters. We are going to use the new words that we are learning to create our very own family trees.
My family – 我的家 Wǒ de jiā
Me – 我 wǒ
Mother – 妈妈 māma
Father – 爸爸 bàba
Older sister – 姐姐 jiě jie
Younger sister – 妹妹 mèi mei
Older brother -哥哥 gēge
Younger brother -弟弟 dìdi
wài gōng / 外 公grandad (mother’s side)
wài pó / 外 婆grandma (mother‘s side)
yé ye / 爷 爷grandad (father’s side)

This week in year 6 we have been practicing writing Chinese characters in the correct stroke order. We had a lot of fun using calligraphy to write some tricky characters. Our writing is getting pretty good!!!

Welcome back to school!
This week all of the children have been learning about the Mid Autumn festival 中秋节 (zhōngqiūjié)。This is the second most important (traditional) Chinese Festival after Chinese New Year.
We have been learning about the legend of the archer Hou Yi and his wife Chang er. The children can all retell this legend. Everyone made some really great Mid Autumn themed crafts. We also learned how to write the character for moon 月 (Yuè). Have a practice at home!
